The Curio Art Project: a living gallery

Haven Hotel Rotterdam is not just a base for culture — the hotel is itself part of the city’s story. Through the Curio Art Project, the hotel transforms into a living gallery. The artworks rotate every four months, giving the hotel an ongoing platform for Rotterdam artists and contemporary themes.

In collaboration with institutions such as Kunsthal Rotterdam and the Maritime Museum Rotterdam, Haven Hotel Rotterdam is growing into an inspiring meeting place for creators, artists and curious guests. Outside the traditional museum context, the city’s stories come to life here. Each stay therefore offers a fresh, new experience.

A hotel as a stage for the city

With the programme ‘A Night at the Gallery’, the hotel redefines what an overnight stay can mean: not a functional pause between activities, but an experience in which accommodation, city and art flow seamlessly into one another. For visitors who come to Rotterdam for museums, architecture and creativity, Haven Hotel is not the starting point — it is itself part of the stories and energy of the city.

Three hotspots, three stories

Within walking distance of the hotel, the Maritime Museum Rotterdam tells the story of the city from its very origins. Exhibitions such as ‘Destination Port City’, ‘Offshore Experience’, ‘Maritime Women’ and ‘Set Sail!’ reveal how Rotterdam evolved into an international port city. In the Museum Harbour, visitors can also discover historic ships, maritime crafts and the history of shipbuilding.

In Katendrecht, the Fenix area is establishing itself as one of Rotterdam’s most dynamic and vibrant neighbourhoods. The Fenix Museum of Migration tells the story of migration and global movement — a story inextricably linked to Rotterdam’s identity as a port city. The former warehouse has become a meeting place where local makers, visitors and urban energy converge.

Kunsthal Rotterdam plays a central role within Haven Hotel Rotterdam’s programme. With its ever-changing range of international exhibitions, photography, design and contemporary art, the Kunsthal continually surprises its visitors.
